The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkoski Blog Tour

The Winner's Kiss
Author: Marie Rutkoski
Publication Date: March 29th, 2016
Publisher: Farrar, Strauss, Giroux

Synopsis
War has begun. Arin is in the thick of it with untrustworthy new allies and the empire as his enemy. Though he has convinced himself that he no longer loves Kestrel, Arin hasn’t forgotten her, or how she became exactly the kind of person he has always despised. She cared more for the empire than she did for the lives of innocent people—and certainly more than she did for him.
At least, that’s what he thinks.
In the frozen north, Kestrel is a prisoner in a brutal work camp. As she searches desperately for a way to escape, she wishes Arin could know what she sacrificed for him. She wishes she could make the empire pay for what they’ve done to her.
But no one gets what they want just by wishing.
As the war intensifies, both Kestrel and Arin discover that the world is changing. The East is pitted against the West, and they are caught in between. With so much to lose, can anybody really win?

My favorite literary kiss
There are so many great kisses throughout literary history but my absolute favorite kiss is a more recent one. It is when Jem kisses Tessa for the first time in Clockwork Prince.

I never thought my ship would sail and so when Jem pulled Tessa toward him and finally made a move I thought my heart would burst. I had never been a Will/Tessa person. Even though it was (sort of) justified I didn't like the way Will treated people. I definitely thought that Jem deserved some happiness with Tessa.

Why is it your favorite?
This is my favorite kiss because I never thought it would happen! I thought Jem was just going to be relegated to side character status and that nothing would happen for him. Jem deserved so much more and I was so happy for him and Tessa.

Bonus Question: what kiss do you hope will occur in Marie Rutkoski's The Winner's Kiss?
I am in the middle of reading The Winner's Kiss right now and all I want is a happy ending for Arin and Kestrel! They have both been through so much that they're owed a little piece of happily ever after. It'll be a bonus if that happily ever after includes kisses =P
