Review:
This book was everything I wanted it to be. I am not one for Westerns, they’ve never really been my thing. I just can’t get behind the idea of a gun slinging cowboy, hell bent on revenge, riding off on his horse. Luckily, Vengeance Road read like a western light and the gun slinger was a badass girl so this was definitely a novel I could root for!
Vengeance Road begins with Kate’s father being murdered by a lawless band (the Rose Riders) and her house being burnt to the ground. This forces her to ride out for Vengeance and also puts her on the trail to a lost gold mine. These dual storylines made the novel fly by and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! The pacing of this novel is just fantastic and if you’re in a bit of a reading slump this will definitely help you get out of it.
I adored Kate. She wasn’t friendly, or loveable, but she was always engaging. I often don’t think revenge is a strong enough motivation for a character. Revenge can only fuel a person for so long, but while that was Kate’s initial motive it wasn’t her motive for the entire story. I liked watching her grow throughout this novel.
I also really liked Jesse and his brother. They really lightened the story. A novel all about Kate would have been very dark, and rather dull. These brothers made Kate come out of her shell and added a great dimension to this novel.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and if helped me get out of a reading slump! If you’re weary of Westerns this is the perfect novel to dip your toe in and test the waters.

I been eyeing this one for a while, and now that I have some free time I think I am actually going to read it. I am glad you enjoyed this one, Great review!
