Review:
Claire’s sister Miranda caught her boyfriend cheating on the night of her college graduation party. With her life in shambles Miranda moves back in with her parents and sister. It is Claire who plots the best revenge. Claire and Miranada are going to be on Around the World the same show Miranda’s cheating ex is going to be participating in…and they’re gong to make sure he goes down!

For Real read like a reality TV show. There was a lot of running from place to place, crazy challenges, and plotting. This format moved the story along quickly and it was rewarding to see how much Claire changed with each completed task. This format though didn’t allow us to get to know the secondary characters, or see the whole picture of the story which was a minor qualm I had.

By far my favorite thing about For Real was the way Cherry portrayed the sister relationship between Claire and Miranda. Miranda has been away at college for the last four years and she still sees Claire as the shy child she was when she left. I loved watching them support each other throughout the race and seeing their relationship change from a childhood one to a more adult friendship. This part of the story felt utterly true to life.

Overall, For Real was a quick, cute, read. It is perfect if you’re looking for a light read with a great sibling relationship. It made me smile, laugh, and want to text my own sister!

  2. I have seen that this book in a few places, but I am not too interested in its idea or reading it. It's a shame things are so random in here that you never get to really know any of the characters, especially the secondary ones.
