Review:
Cecile is kidnapped and taken beneath a mountain to be sold to trolls. The trolls believe Cecile is the key to breaking the curse that keeps them trapped underneath the mountain. But when she is bonded to the troll prince, Tristan, and the curse doesn’t break, that’s when the real action begins.
Cecile was likable enough. Despite being kidnapped she remained positive. My one real problem with Cecile was that I thought she was suffering from Stockholm syndrome. She is kidnapped and forced in to a marriage with Tristan who she initially dislikes and then rather suddenly begins to love and never wants to be parted from. It didn’t feel like love to me it felt like her mind was playing tricks on her.
Then there was Tristan. I liked how quick witted and funny he could be, his dialogue was well written but I didn’t really care for him. I’m usually fine when characters have misunderstandings it creates tension and makes me root for their relationship. But there were so many misunderstandings between Tristan and Cecile that it became ridiculous and unbelievable which removed me from the story.
My favorite thing about Stolen Songbird was the political drama. I liked how Jensen described the different layers of troll politics and set up the world building. It was a rich world and I think the story was well written.
Overall, I enjoyed Stolen Songbird. The world building was well done and the story original but the combination of Tristan and the stories unnecessarily long length didn’t allow me to enjoy this as fully as I could have.

This sounds like a reasonably mediocre book. I like the sound of the plot because it seems new to me, but the characters don't sound like they evoke much emotion, and can be cool but are pretty hard to relate to :/
ReplyDeleteSuperb work , I have visited your site for the first time. Thank you very much for having such a informative blog. I'm working in OOH Advertisement ERP The trolls agree with Cecile is the key to breaking the curse that continues them trapped under the mountain. but whilst she is bonded to the troll prince, Tristan, and the curse doesn’t ruin, that’s while the real action starts off evolved.Cecile was likable enough. in spite of being kidnapped she remained high-quality. My one real trouble with Cecile was that I notion she was stricken by Stockholm syndrome. She is kidnapped and compelled in to a wedding with Tristan.
