Review:
I adore CJ Duggan’s Summer series. Every time I start one of these books I can feel the sun on my back and the warm summer lake water; even if as I was reading Ringer it was snowing.
I was so excited when I found out this story was going to be about Ringer. He quickly became one of my favorite characters in That One Summer. He was sarcastic, fun, and a little bit jaded toward love. He couldn’t seem to figure out why all of his best buddies were suddenly falling in love. To get away from all this “love stuff” Ringer takes a temporary position, away from Onslow, on Max’s Dad’s property.
What Ringer doesn’t count on is Miranda Henry, Max’s sister. Miranda’s been away form the ranch and coming back has dredged up a lot of memories for her. While I understood why she acted the way she did I still couldn’t forgive her. I had a hard time liking Miranda. She was snobby, rude, and she treated Ringer kind of badly. This all bummed me out because I liked Ringer so much. I wanted him to end up with someone else. Anyone else. I will admit Miranda did get better as the story progressed but I still never found myself really liking her.
I found the change of scenery from Onslow to Ballan interesting but I thought some of the summer series magic was lost in Ballan. There is something about hanging out at the Onslow hotel with all the Onslow boys in one big group that adds that special something. I was intrigued by how different the two places were but I am definitely ready to return to Onslow in the next book in the series, Forever Summer.
Overall, I enjoyed Ringer. It wasn’t my favorite in the series but it was still fun to see all the Onslow boys and to watch Ringer change from playboy to boyfriend. If you’re a fan of the summer series or just starting Ringer is one you won’t want to miss!

OMG he's too hot lol Great review!
ReplyDeleteRight!? The cover model is so swoony! He is exactly how I pictured Ringer =)
DeleteI've never heard of this series before. But Ringer sounds like an interesting character.
ReplyDeleteLovely review, Emily. :)
I adored the Summer series as well, and one of the reasons I did was the set up, as well as the setting.
ReplyDeleteFrom your review, this doesn't sound up to par with the summer series - the main character, particularly, doesn't sound like someone I would like reading about.
Thanks for the constructive review, Emily! :)

I hate it when one series installment isn't quite as good as the rest, but it's bound to happen eventually. At least you still enjoyed this one overall, that's what counts, right? Happy Friday!

I've really liked this series so far, so I'm looking forward to reading this one too. I think I'm going to miss Onslow too though. :)
