Top 10 Character Names I Love (that happen to be unusual)


I started this list with the intention of just putting together a list of my favorite character names but as I kept adding names I realized all the ones I like also happen to be a little out of the ordinary. So here is my list of favorites with the added benefit that they also happen to be unusual! Also because I couldn't decide my Top 10 Became Top 12. 

1 Varen Nethers- Nevermore by Kelly Creagh
2 Howl/Howell- Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
3 Alina Starkov- Shadow & Bone Leigh Bardugo
4 River West- Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevive Tucholke
5 Blue Sargent- The Raven Boys Series by Maggie Stiefvater
I also love the name Richard Campbell Gansey III
6 Ink- Indelible by Dawn Metcalf

7 Evangeline "Evie" Greene - Poison Princess by Kresley Cole
8 Cassel- White Cat by Holly Black
9 Day- Legend by Marie Lu
10 James "Jem" Carstairs- The Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare
I just love LOVE the nickname Jem for people named James!
11 Karou- Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
12 Maximum "Max" Ride- Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson

    I've only read two novels on your list, but I loved their character's name. I like Howl's name because of the duality of it. Alina's name just sounds bad ass, like she will come and kick ass (very fitting) if need be :)

    Oh I loved Poison Princess so much! I really like how Evangeline sounds both old and hip at the same time. It is a great name.

    I think it's funny that I haven't read a single one of these books, but I own most of them! There are just too many books in the world to read. :)

    I have seen the movie version of Howl's Moving Castle, and I loved it! Great picks.
