Welcome to Around The World! On Friday I feature a Blogger, Author or Publisher and ask questions about the country or state they are from and what it is like to be a member of the book world there! If you are interested in being featured please sign up here.
Interview Questions:
This week I have Jude from In Between on the blog!
Where are you from?Mexico :D! I live a couple of hours away from the border with the United States :)
What is the best and worst thing about living in Mexico? The best: The people and the food. I’ve traveled quite a few places around the globe and honestly, I think my people’s one of the nicest and most welcoming. You can drop by our houses anytime and you’re guaranteed a good meal, long conversation and a good laugh. The worst: The current insecurity. While the majority of the people is really nice, last year it got pretty rough. Gunfire breaking in the middle of streets, kidnappings, robberies- at least where I live. It sort of died down now, and things are better, but a sense of fear still lingers, which is pretty sad :/
What is the biggest challenge of being a book blogger in Mexico?Thankfully, as I mentioned, I live near the border, so I can visit the States regularly (around once or twice a week), and I can buy books right at their bookstores and I also have a residence in the States, so I can buy books online and I don’t have to pay for extra shipping :D Though I do have to wait until I visit to retrieve them and it’s a 3-4 hour drive to get to the States.
Are you able to go to book signings, launches, or industry events?Sadly, no :( I can only go to the States on certain days – weekends or when I have no school, and so far my free days haven’t been able to coincide with any author/industry events :/
Are Publishers willing to work with you were you live?Yes! Since I have an address in the States it really isn’t a problem :)
Emily: That is really cool it's kind of like you get the best of both worlds!
A Few Of My Favorite Things Section:

Favorite Book Recent Release: The Rules for Disappearing by Ashley Elston
Do you have any favorite books set in Mexico or written by authors who are from Mexico? It’s funny ‘cause before I knew how to read in English, the few books I read where mostly translated versions; but I did stumble upon one or two titles written by Mexican authors. One of my favorites is Daniela Rivera Zacarias
